Department of Law, JU organized Legal Literacy and Legal Awareness Camp at Panchayat Ghar, Mansar, Block Majalata, District Udhampur

The Department of Law at the University of Jammu, under the leadership of Prof. Manju Jamwal, HoD, Department of Law organized a comprehensive Legal Literacy and Legal Awareness Camp for LL.B 6th semester (final semester) students. The event took place at Panchayat Ghar, Mansar, Block Majalata, District Udhampur, on the 15th of February, 2024.

 

The Legal Literacy and Legal Awareness Camp aimed to empower students with practical knowledge and insights into the legal framework, equipping them with the necessary skills to navigate legal complexities effectively. The topics opted for the camp were the Right to Information Act, 2005, and the J&K Public Services Guarantee Act, 2011 for legal awareness, students created awareness and collected data from the nearby villages. Students namely Murtaza Kamal, Prashant Manhas, Sonica Meenia, Priya Sharma, and Aditi Raj Thakur delivered short lectures to the villagers.

 

This significant initiative was conducted under the auspices of the Legal Literacy and Legal Awareness Committee, helmed by Prof. Sanjay Gupta, who serves as the In-charge of the committee. The camp witnessed active participation from Dr. Raj K Sandhu, Assistant Professor and Advocate Meenu Sharma, Advocate Shveta Gupta, Guest Faculty, BDO Majalta Officials, Mr. Vishal Kumar Sadotra, Krishan Gupta, Rohit Kumar, and Sarpanch and Panch of nearby villages, namely Showket Ali(Sarpanch) and Krishan Chand Sharma (r/o Badigarh), Tilak Raj (Panch) and Om Prakash (r/o Masnsar), Sikinder Singh  and Zahoor Ahmed (r/o Chani Mansar),

 

The Department of Law at the University of Jammu remains steadfast in its dedication to promoting legal education, advocacy, and social justice, and looks forward to organizing more such initiatives in the future. Mr. Sharat Sharma, Ms. Pankaj Sharma, Mr. Balvir Singh, Mr. Manohar Lal (Office Staff), Mr. Sharad Sharma (Ph.D Scholar), Mr. Sunny Singh Thakur (LLM Scholar)  whose support was instrumental in ensuring the success of the camp. helped in the smooth conduct of the Camp.
