Tulip Garden thrown open for visitors

Srinagar,  The Tulip Garden located in the foothills of the Zabarwan range overlooking the Dal Lake was thrown open to visitors on Saturday.

“The tulip garden has been thrown open to the visitors and the general public today,” said an official of the Floriculture department. ” The opening of the garden means that spring has arrived and it is time to celebrate.”

The garden not only boasts a splendid collection of tulips but also serves as a haven for a myriad of flower species. Delicate daffodils, fragrant hyacinths, resplendent roses, charming ranunculi, vibrant mascara, and enchanting Iris blooms flourish alongside the iconic tulips, creating an enchanting tapestry of colors and fragrances.

Last year more than 3.77 lakh domestic and foreign tourists visited the garden and officials are hopeful that this year will be record-breaking.

The official said five new varieties of tulips have been added to the existing 68 this year.

The average lifespan of the tulip flower is three to four weeks but heavy rains or too much heat can destroy them.

The tourists who visited the garden on the first day said it will remain etched in their memory for a long time.

” Me and my family will remember this visit for a long time. We will visit here again before concluding the Kashmir trip next week,” said a tourist.
