Police nabs hardcore criminal in J&K’s Samba

Jammu,  Police on Monday arrested one hardcore criminal wanted in several cases from Bari Brahmana area of Samba district in Jammu and Kashmir.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Samba, Vinay Kumar said that Bari Brahmana police under the supervision of Sub-Divisional Police Officer have arrested one hardcore criminal namely Kapil Sharma alias Jimmy of Chaudahi , Sainik Colony, Jammu.
“He was arrested in a case registered against him under sections 420, 323, 342, 506 of IPC,” said the SSP adding that the accused is wanted in 17 FIRs in Jammu and Samba districts, with involvement in heinous offenses such as attempt to murder, peddling narcotics, illegally carrying weapons, snatching etc.
Notably, police had registered a case on the basis of a complaint alleging incessant violence, illegal confinement and cheating in a fraudulently run drug de-addiction centre in Birpur, Bari Brahmana.
Post registering FIR, a police party was immediately dispatched and 15 victims of violence were rescued and reunited with their family members, said the SSP.
He said that the key accused was absconding and after sustained efforts, it finally led to the arrest of an absconder.
The arrest, he said, was executed by the police party comprising of PSI Nirmal Singh, Constable Tavinder Singh led by SHO Summet Sharma of Police Station Bari Brahmana.
“The arrest adds to the continuous efforts of Samba Police to bring criminal elements to justice and it also sends a strong signal to anti-social elements that there will be absolutely zero tolerance for any criminal activity in Samba district,” he said.
The SSP added that the District Police reassures its commitment towards the safety, security and well being of its citizens.
