Chief Secretary inaugurates three-day Mathwar Mela

JAMMU : Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo today inaugurated the historic three day annual Mathwar Mela and paid obeisance at the Dev Asthan of Baba Ballo Ji Maharaj.

Like Jhiri Mela, on every Basant Panchami, a grand congregation takes place at Mathwar Dev Asthan, the holy shrine and birth place of Baba Ballo Ji Maharaj. During this Utsav, thousands of devotees from far and wide congregate and pay obeisance to Baba Ji.

As per the programme, the Mela will culminate on February 14.

Senior officers of the District administration were present on the occasion.

Chief Secretary asked the officers to ensure that all facilities are extended to the devotees in a hassle-free manner so that smooth and successful conduct of this religious event is ensured.

He stressed on maintaining synergy among different departments for systematic and foolproof arrangements at the Mela site for the convenience of the visiting devotees, who come in large numbers from different parts of the state as well the country.

The Chief Secretary directed the traffic authorities to ensure proper regulation of traffic during the festival days.

Large number of people from various areas participated in the mela.

The arrangements for the smooth conduct of the mela were placed in service including drinking water, electricity, medical facility, security, sanitation etc.

Other line departments’ officials are also extending their services.

Fool proof security has been put in and around the Devasthan in addition to checking teams with metal detectors at entrance.
