‘Yayavar’ to hold online drawing competition for kids amid lockdown

Jammu: In a bid to engage kids in this hour of crisis amid countrywide lockdown, Literary body ‘Yayavar’ in an unique initiative on Friday planned to hold maiden online drawing competition for the kids below the age group of 12 years.
“As you know there is complete Lockdown across the country and people are staying indoors but the children upto 12 years of age are the major sufferers because they hardly have any acitivities to do to keep themselves engaged,” Nupur Sandhu–Director, ‘Yayavar’ here said.
She said that to socialise children and give them something innovative to do besides appreciating their talent, online drawing competition idea was floated.
“It will not only make them to think beyond imagination but also keep them engaged and they stay away from boredom, which often is being complained by many parents,” she said and added that kids can’t move out to play in fields as preventive measure and sitting in front of television sets, playing games on mobile phone for tender age kids is not advisable, so keep all these concerns in mind, it was introduced.
“During the online festival, drawings will be invited from children below 12 years so an author Prasun Roy knits a story on those drawings,” she added.
Ms Sandhu further said that theme of the drawings will be “Friendship” and “Nature” or both can be displayed.
“Either coloured or black&white drawing can be shared on the Whatsapp or social platform of ‘Yayavar’ with all details,” she said and added that the online date for the festival has been fixed for April 22 and 23 titled as “Yayavar bring forth–The maiden online Literary Festival Kids”.
