World Heritage Week begins at Dogra Art Museum

JAMMU : As part of the World Heritage Week, Department of Archives, Archaeology and Museums organised special exhibition depicting Dogra Art through textiles and craft at Dogra Art Museum, Mubarak Mandi Complex, here today. “To familiarize the youngsters with the craft, objects and artefacts, dis- played inside the Museum, a number of schools and col- leges of Jammu have been invited to come and see themselves the treasurer of Dogra art,” said Curator, Dogra Art Museum, Jammu, Mukul Magotra.
To begin with, the open- ing day of the Week wit- nessed young students of a private educational institu- tion of the city were taken for a guided tour of various galleries of the Museum where they made aware of history and significance of various art objects by welltrained guides.
Every year, November 19 to 25 is celebrated as World Heritage Week across the world. The heritage week is observed to cele- brate the diversity of our cultural heritage and the efforts required for the preservation of our tangible and intangible heritage.
The event is being observed under the guidance of Director Archives, Archaeology and Museums, J&K, Pradeep Kumar and Assistant Director, Dr
Sangeeta Sharma. “The Directorate is very keen and particular about spreading the awareness of Art and Culture to every nook and corner of the state.
To give fillip to this objec- tive, instructions have been imparted from the Director to make the event a grand success by inviting more and more people and institu- tions for the occasion so that a comprehensive awareness about Art and Cultural her- itage is generated,” further said the Curator.
