Webinar organized on ‘Water Crises’ in Kalakote

KALAKOTE: A webinar on “Water Crises” in Kalakote was organized by Kalakote Congress which was conducted by former legislator Ashok Sharma. Those who spoke in the Webinar were from Chingus, Loorkote, Kalalkass, Sarhoti, Panar, Panjah, Breavi, Kalakote and Narsinghpura and expressed their serious concern over the scarcity of drinking water, non functioning of filtration plants at Sair, Panar and Saroti. They also raised the issues of defunct irrigation schemes including Moghla-Chabber, Saranoo-Dangri, Kallar, Androlla-Chakli, Dalhori, Kalara, Sewa and Khabber.
The participants also disclosed that farmers have shifted from paddy crop to maize crop because of non functioning of irrigation Khuls and lift irrigation scheme thus putting the farmers to loss worth millions of rupees. The participants also projected the problems of frustration among youth due to non filling of the vacancies on different levels for years together and depleted condition of the roads and link roads including Siot-Kalakote road.
Among those who participated were Suraj Singh, President SC Cell, Rattan Paul Mehta, Coordinator, Vichar Vibhag, Babu Ram, President, AJKKU, Arjun Sharma, Secretary, Pradesh Youth Congress, Girdhari Lal, President, Contractors Cell, Sukhdev Singh, Convenor, Water Action Committee, Som Raj, Secretary, Water Action Committee, Nirmal Singh and Sanjay Choudhary, Secretaries DYC, Surinder Singh, Sahil Sharma Baral and Ankit Sharma.
