New Delhi: Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu paid tributes to revolutionary freedom fighter Shaheed Udham Singh on his 80th death anniversary on Friday, saying stories of his courage and sacrifice will continue to inspire every Indian.
Paying homage in a message,  Naidu noted that Udham Singh “travelled extensively outside India promoting the cause of Indian independence.”
“He was an active member of the Ghadar party and ran its publication ‘Ghadar di gunj’ which got him arrested and imprisoned. The stories of his courage and sacrifice will continue to inspire every Indian,” he tweeted.
Udham Singh was hanged to his death on this day in 1940 for killing General Michael O’ Dwyer, the former lieutenant governor of Punjab, who gave orders for the brutal Jallianwala Bagh massacre in Punjab.
