UP conducts record 2.66 lakh tests in 24 hrs

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh has set a new record by conducting 2, 66,326 Covid tests in the last 24 hours.

The tests included 1, 14672 RT-PCR tests of which 19,000 were done in private laboratories.

Earlier, Chief Minister Adityanath Yogi had directed the surveillance team to undertake door-to-door survey, increase pace of vaccination and double testing capacity in order to contain the spread of the virus and ensure prompt treatment of positive cases.

The state has earned the distinction of being the first state in the country to conduct more than 40 million Covid tests.

Meanwhile, the Government has placed an order for 40 new RT-PCR machines to accelerate testing even further.

Until last Monday, the surveillance team of the Health Department had conducted more than 16, 31, 25,460 visits in the state. The team also facilitated tests for suspected cases during this period while treatment of those who tested positive was started.

The Health Department has so far surveyed 3, 38, 02,522 houses in 2.42 lakh localities in
5, 81,264 team days.

So far, a total of 1, 25, 87, 984 vaccine doses have been given in the state, including 1, 02, 64,986 first dose and 23, 22, 998 second dose.
