“This game has always been popular in schools, colleges and even some building societies. But it’s now being played with rules and regulations. It can be played indoor on a mat or outdoor on a ground, but the most effort is needed on the beach. You end up using more stamina on that turf,” said Charak while addressing the participants.
“The position is of great importance as it gives the back and leg support. You risk major injuries if you don’t maintain the right posture. There are rules even for the gripping position, and if they’re not followed, you are given a foul,” informed Charak.
Seven teams participated in the competition. Gorkha Nagar Team emerged victorious at the senior level competition while Kalika Colony Team remained runners-up. However, at the junior level, Gorkha Nagar team emerged victorious while Bahu Fort team remained runners-up.
BJP leaders comprising Vivek Patyal, Darshan Kumar, Krishan Chander and Rakesh Gupta were also present on the occasion.
