Tricolour affixed on Hurriyat gate, removed later

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Reconciliation Front chairman Sandeep Mawa on Wednesday affixed the tricolour on the closed gate of the office of Kashmiri separatist group in Srinagar.
Mawa, a Kashmiri Pandit, appeared along with his associate at Rajbagh locality of Srinagar housing the office of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) and affixed the tricolor, witnesses said.
The tricolor was later removed from the gate. It is not yet known as to who removed the flag.
The office of APHC has been shut after the scrapping of J&K’s special status on August 5, 2019. The Hurriyat chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has been under “house arrest” since the abrogation of Article 370. New Delhi has undertaken a massive crackdown against the separatist leadership in Kashmir in the last few years.
In November last year, Kashmiri Pandit businessman Mawa’s salesman was killed in a militant attack which was believed to be aimed at him.
The affixing of tricolor, comes at a time when ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign is underway to encourage people to bring the ‘Tiranga’ home and to hoist it to mark the 75th year of India’s independence.
