Traffic resumes on Srinagar-Jammu highway

Srinagar: Traffic was resumed after remaining blocked for several hours due to landslides on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway on Thursday, a traffic police official said.
He said traffic on the highway was suspended due to landslides in Ramban area.
However, the National highway Authority of India (NHAI) and Border Roads Organisation (BRO), responsible for the maintenance of the highway immediately put into service sophisticated machines and cleared the landslides and put through the highway.
Empty trucks and oil tankers besides other vehicles carrying fruit were allowed to move towards Jammu from here. Trucks loaded with essential commodities besides oil tankers will be allowed to move towards Kashmir later in the afternoon, he stated.
