Baramulla: The Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested a thief and recovered stolen property here in north Kashmir on Thursday. The Police also seized eight logs of illicit timber in the apple township of Sopore.
A Police spokesman said a number of thefts had been reported in Police Station (PS) Tarzoo, Sopore recently.
A police team was constituted and a thief identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Dar, resident of Maharajpora, Sopore was arrested. On his disclosure during interrogation, the Police recovered the stolen property, he said.
A case FIR No. 52/21 U/S 379, 511 IPC registered at PS Tarzoo and further investigation taken up.
He said that on a tip-off, the Police raided the house of one Tariq Ahmad Malik at Dalri Rafiabad, Sopore and recovered eight logs of illicit timber.
A case FIR No. 105/2021 U/S 379 IPC & 6 Forest Act has been registered at PS Dangiwacha and investigation initiated.
