Stringent measures be enforced to save precious lives: Col Pathania

JAMMU: Colonel SS Pathania, (R) President Sainik Samaj Party, JKUT has expressed concern and anguish over constantly increasing cases of Corona positive cases and requested the Lt Governor G.C. Murmu to enforce stringent measures based on pragmatic SOPs and protocols to immediately arrest and contain the spread of covid19. He said that nation is facing the most difficult war after independence against the invisible enemy threatening at our door steps. Figure of positive cases officially has crossed more than 50000 in a day, while in actual it may be much more.
Our UT too has not remained unaffected and alarming increase is taking place in the number of infections on daily basis. Union government caught between saving the lives and livelihoods, finds itself in a catch 22 situation and has left fight against corona to the discretion of State /UT governments. Our neighboring countries to include Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Afghanistan, Bhutan and Pakistan, despite being severely handicapped on so many accounts, have shown their resolve and effectively contained the spread. Though, maintaining the finer balance between revival of economy and saving of human life, by contacting the spread is a herculean task but doable. Delhi has successfully demonstrated this aspect by showing the resolve and dynamism in effective containment.
Col Pathania said that In our UT, opening of parks/gardens, religious places, inauguration of open gyms, permitting plying of mini buses and opening of offices has made the situation more alarming. If aspects of social distancing and wearing of masks in not ensured by imposing huge penalties and exemplary punishments, then surely we are inviting the disaster. It is strange situation, where people are asking the administration to impose or enhance the lock down.
Pathania added that the prime job of the government at this juncture is to save the precious lives.
