‘Statehood status’ soon be restored to J&K: Ram Madhav

Jammu: Asserting that as per new act after Jammu and Kashmir was made Union Territory, delimitation was on cards, BJP National General Secretary Ram Madhav on Friday said that “statehood status” would soon be restored to Jammu and Kashmir.
“Delimitation Act will soon be brought into force and the Centre already working on it and our party also wanted to restore “statehood status” soon to Jammu and Kashmir,” Mr Madhav, who was on two-day visit to the Union Territory here told reporters.
He said that Assembly elections will also be conducted depending upon the situation and will be announced by the Election Commission of India.
Mr Madhav further said that in the past one year, major decisions were taken in Jammu and Kashmir and since August 5, when Article 370 was abrogated, the situation overall remained peaceful and no civilian casualty was reported from any part.
“Hubs of stone pelting in the valley remained calm and peaceful and it happened all because of administration, police and particularly the people of Kashmir valley, who want to take Union Territory forward,” said Mr Madhav adding that attendance in examinations remained 99 per cent, which means youth wants to flourish.
Mr Madhav also added that in 2020, restrictions will be lifted and added, “presently around 30-32 top leaders are under detention and in total, less than 100 are still detained but they will also be released soon.”
“We want that the political activities, happenings begin at the earliest,” said Mr Madhav and added that internet services are restored in Kargil and soon will be restored in a phased manner in the twin regions of Jammu and Kashmir.
He, however, also slammed the Congress party and others for misleading people on Citizenship (Amendment) Act besides on National Population
Record (NPR), which he termed is a routine administrative exercise to track the movement of residents.
“NPR is the baby of UPA when they were in power and political and communal conspiracy is being undertaken by some elements to disturb situation in the country,” he added.
He, however, also said that one thing is clear that Pakistan-occupied Kashmir is an integral part of India, no matters even if Pakistan keep “amending” its Constitution.
He further said that Indian Army is standing tall all along the borders and keeping vigil on every nefarious design of our neighbouring countries.
On Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh debacle, he said, “we are assessing the situation especially of Jharkhand results, which was below our expectations.”
