Six more die due to Covid-19, death toll mounts to 244 in J&K

Srinagar: Six more people have died due to Coronavirus here on Sunday pushing the toll to 244 in UT of J&K.
Reported Covid-19 deaths on Sunday included three from Srinagar, two from Baramulla and one each from Rajouri, Shopian and Pulwama died due to COVID-19 since Saturday night, taking the death toll due to the virus in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to 244.
With these deaths, 209 people have lost their lives due to infection in 45 days, and 229 people in 59 days in J&K, where 441 new positive cases were reported on Saturday, taking the total number of infected persons to 13,198.
Official sources said three patients from Srinagar — 80-year-old woman from Rainawari, 60-year-old man from HMT and 55-year-old woman from Shaheedgunj — died at Chest Disease hospital in this summer capital on Sunday. “The Rainawari resident was suffering from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and died after suffering a heart attack. The other two Srinagar residents were also suffering from respiratory problems,” they said.
Another patient, a 59-year-old man, a resident of Wangan in Shopian, was admitted to CD hospital after he tested positive for COVID-19. “The patient died in the hospital on Sunday,” they said.
They said a 75-year-old woman, a resident of Tumulahal in Pulwama, who had tested positive for COVID-19, died at SHMS hospital on Sunday.
They said 70-year-old COVID-19 positive patient, a resident of Bunglow Bagh in Baramulla, died at Government Medical College (GMC), Baramulla Sunday.
Earlier, they said an 84-year-old man, a resident of Baramulla, was admitted to S K Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) on Thursday for bilateral Community Acquired Pneumonia (CAP). “The patient, who tested positive for COVID-19, died at around 2330 hrs on Saturday,” they said.
They said a 55-year-old woman, a resident of Darhal in Rajouri, was admitted to Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu on Friday. “The COVID-19 patient died at the hospital at around 0200 hrs on Sunday,” they added.
With this fatality, the death toll due to COVID-19 has risen to 50 in Baramulla. Srinagar is the worst affected district in J&K in terms of causalities with 62 deaths due to COVID-19.
The number of deaths stands at 24 in Kulgam while 19 people have lost their lives to the disease in Shopian, 18 in Budgan and Anantnag. Thirteen people have lost their lives in Kupwara, 12 in Pulwama and five in Bandipora. Ganderbal district recorded fourth death due to COVID-19 on July 12.
Ten districts of Jammu have reported 19 fatalities while 225 people have lost their lived due to COVID-19 in ten districts of Kashmir.
Fifty four people, including three CRPF jawans, died due to COVID-19 during the six five days of this week.
As many as 48 patients including 10 people from Baramulla, 12 from Srinagar, six from Kulgam, three from Anantnag, Kupwara and Budgam, Jammu region, two each from Shopian and Ganderbal, one patient each from Pulwama, Bandipora and a BSF jawan — died due to COVID-19 last week.
As many as 41 people including nine from Srinagar, 10 from Baramulla, five each from Anantnag, three from Kulgam, Budgam and Shopian, two each from Kupwara and Bandipora, one each from Jammu and Ganderbal — died due to COVID-19 between June 29 and July 5.
