Two militants of terror outfit JeM killed in Shopian encounter today.
Police said that based on a credible input about the presence of terrorists in Memender area in District Shopian, a cordon and search operation was launched today morning jointly by Police and security forces in the area.
As the searches were going on, the search party was fired upon by the terrorists.
The fire was retaliated leading to a gunfight.
In the ensuing encounter, two terrorists were killed and the bodies were retrieved from the site of encounter.
Both were affiliated with proscribed terror outfit JeM.
One of the killed terrorist Suhail Nazir Mir son of Nazir Ahmad Mir resident of Saidapora Payeen, Shopian and from the incrimination material recovered from the site of encounter,
the other killed terrorist has been identified as foreigner from Pakistan.
As per the police records, they were involved in conspiring and executing several terrorist attacks and were wanted by the law for their complicity in a series of terror crimes including attack on security establishments and civilian atrocities.
Several terror crime cases were registered against them for their terrorist activities.
Pertinent to mention that due to the efforts of Police & security forces, it was a clean operation and no collateral damage happened during the encounter.
