Shiv Sena terms Panchayat bye-elections as first step to restore democracy

JAMMU: Shiv Sena Balasaheb Thackeray Jammu and Kashmir Unit has welcomed the notification regarding Panchayat bye-elections.
Addressing media persons, State president Shiv Sena Manish Sahni termed the decision of Government to conduct Panchayat bye-elections as the first step to restore democracy. He appealed to the public to participate in the elections in a big way. Sahni said that this was the first election after the withdrawal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir and also the first step to restore democracy.
“We must first create an atmosphere for restoration of democracy in Jammu and Kashmir. This election will prove to be a lesson for the leaders, who consider Jammu and Kashmir as their property,” Sahni said.
Shiv Sena will also field its candidates in both Jammu and Kashmir provinces, Sahni said and added that it was being expected that the administration would allow the Shiv Sena leaders to go to Kashmir for campaigning.
Chairperson, female unit Minakshi Chhibber, general secretary Vikas Bakshi, secretary Raj Singh , Ashish Bali, Rakesh Handa , Parveen Gupta and many others were also present on the occasion.
