Srinagar: Security forces arrested a Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militant in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district and recovered arms and ammunition from him.

Official sources told UNI that they got information about the presence of a militant in the area. Acting on that information, the security forces raided village Behama in Kupwara on Thursday. “A militant, identified as Fayaz Ahmad Mir, was arrested during the raid,” they said.

They further said arms and ammunition, including an AK 47 rifle, were recovered from the militant.

“Police have registered a case and initiated investigations to ascertain the identity of other people who are also involved in militancy,” they said, adding more arrests are expected in the coming days.
