Secretary felicitates field staff of Animal Husbandry Department

LEH: Secretary, Animal/ Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries Departments, UT Ladakh, Ravinder Kumar presided over a function organised to felicitate field staff of the Animal Husbandry Department, Leh under the National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP), at the Livestock Development Office (LDO), Chuchot Shamma in Leh, on Monday.
Director, Animal/ Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries Departments, UT Ladakh, Dr Mohammad Raza; Assistant Director, Fisheries, Mohammad Amin; Chief Animal Husbandry Officer (CAHO), Leh, Dr Mohammad Iqbal; CAHO Kargil, Dr Fida Hussain; Deputy Director, Pashmina Goat Farm, Upshi, Dr Morup, and other doctors and officials of the department were also present during the felicitation ceremony.
Secretary, Animal Husbandry, Ravinder Kumar applauded efforts of field staff and officials of the animal husbandry department for achieving this feat. He lauded the tireless service and functioning of the department, and also expressed hope to see the department continuing the great work.
Director, Animal Husbandry, Dr Raza apprised the Secretary of all the activities carried out by the department. He also congratulated the officials and staff of the department for the achievement.
NADCP, which aims to eradicate the foot and mouth disease (FMD) and Brucellosis in livestock by 2030, was implemented in UT Ladakh between October 02, 2020, and November 15, 2020. Despite the topographical challenges and shortage of staff, a total of 79,098 cattle was tagged and vaccinated against FMD, covering 94% and put UT Ladakh on the top among all UTs in the country.
