School Education Jammu observing Int’l Yoga Day week on 7 themes

Jammu: The Directorate of School Education Jammu has yet again come up with another initiative to engage staff, teachers, students and parents as well in co-curricular activity as a part of ongoing week-long International Yoga Day being organised on seven themes.
Director School Education, Jammu Anuradha Gupta here on Tuesday said that the department is celebrating ‘International Yoga Day’ Week on Common Protocol in collaboration with Directorate of ISM and Ayush, J&K, Department of Health and Medical Education.
“The week-long celebrations started on June 14 on different themes and will conclude on June 21 on ‘International Yoga Day’ to be celebrated across the region with participation of students, teaching and non-teaching staff, officials as they will join from their respective homes, institutions or offices via online mediums following the scheduled programme,” she added.
Ms Gupta said that on June 14 and 15, Yoga ‘Asnas’ were performed on ‘Common Yoga Protocol’ and ‘Yoga for respiratory health, Immunity Boosting-I’ respectively.
The Director further added that on June 16 (Tuesday), ‘Yoga for respiratory health, Immunity Boosting-II’, on June 17 –‘Life Style Disorders’, on June 18–‘Mental Health and Stress management’, on June 19-‘Yoga for Diabetes and Obesity’ and on June 20–Surya Namaskar’ special session’ will be performed.
She further said that on June 21, mega events will be organised on International Yoga Day in which larger participation of many stakeholders like faculty, staff, students, parents will be join the celebrations at their respective places.
She however, said that everyday sessions are being telecasted on television channels and added, “an online course will also be launched on International Day of Yoga and all interested students, educators (Below 40) and (above 40 yrs), can register online with the registered link.
“Yoga Competition is also announced for four groups including Pre-Primary, 1st to 5th, 6th to 8th and 9th to 12th and students, teaching staff after attending the live session will prepare videos during the ongoing week-long celebrations and submit at ‘[email protected]’ by June 18,” the Director said adding that first two best videos from each group will be rewarded suitably.
