JAMMU: J&K’s Sandeep Chattoo, owner of Real Kashmir Football Club (RKFC) has been invited to attend the digital event on promoting the power of Football to prevent violence to be held during the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly. Football for Peace (FfP), The United States Government., The State of Qatar and The United Nations Office for Countering Terrorism are co-hosting this high-level digital event.

According to FfP spokesperson, violence threatens all aspects of society, from individual citizens to entire communities, from businesses to whole economies. In the face of this challenge we need to establish a whole-of-society response and a holistic approach that utilizes strong and multi-layered partnerships that collaborate at global, national and local levels.

The event, to be held on the 10th November 2020, will see a series of discussions and presentations from industry experts on how football can be used as a highly innovative tool in which PVE programmes are being developed through strong partnerships between governments, the football world, NGOs, the private sector, the media and communities.

Sport has the power to connect people, from individuals to communities, strengthen their resilience and protect young people from all forms of social harm including gang culture, violent crime and recruitment. We are convinced that (FfP) can be at the long-term service of Peace and respectfully hope that you will be able to join us at the event where you will see and hear the impact of our work firsthand.

The UN has indicated its belief that peace is maintained through dialogue, reconciliation and justice, and the promotion of human development, social cohesion through the rejection of injustice, and exclusion and FfP supports these goals.
