Rotary Club Jammu organizes plantation drive

JAMMU: The Rotary Club of Jammu Trikuta on Sunday organized a plantation drive at village Rehal of Bishnah Tehsil. In this plantation drive a total of 300 plants of different species including herbals, fruits and flowers were planted in the outer periphery of Gaushala (Cow Shed) and stadium at Rehal.
Speaking on the occasion, President of the Club, Kiran Wali emphasized on the importance of protecting environment. Plantation helps to protect the environment, maintain ecological balance and control soil erosion, she added.
While talking to Greater Jammu Virtual, Rotary member Dr Ram Gupta informed that the Rotary Club of Jammu Trikuta has taken the responsibility of maintenance of the Gaushala at Rehal village.
“Under the community services Rotary Club Jammu Trikuta has been helping the Gaushala to develop infrastructure, build logistics and to maintain the eco-balance for the last many years”, Dr Ram said.
It includes solar system, solar lights, plantation drives and many other things, he added. This year we are stretching our services upto Rehal stadium by planting 300 saplings at the outer contour of the stadium, he said.
Speaking on the occasion, Romesh Khajuria, President of Mission Modi Again PM J&K and Vice Chairman Wool & Woolen Export Promotion Council (WWEPC) sensitized the people about the importance of trees and the significant role they play in maintaining ecological and environmental balance and saving the mother earth.
He emphasized that trees play a significant role in combating environmental issues like global warming, prevention of floods and soil erosion and stressed on the fact that urbanization of the towns needs to be supported by planting sufficient trees in open areas so that various environmental problems afflicting the towns may be mitigated and diseases which have a bearing to the polluted air may be avoided.
Parshotam Lal Shastri, supervisor of Rehal Guashala thanked the Rotary Club Jammu Trikuta for organizing the plantation drive.
He said, to save the earth and this plantation drive will motivate many others.
Prominent members present on the occasion were Upendra Gupta, Shakti, Vidushi, Suman, Tarun Deep Singh and many others.
