Revival of tourism is Govt’s top priority: Advisor Khan

KATRA: Advisor to Lt. Governor Baseer Ahmed Khan has said that revival of Tourism in J&K is the top priority of the government and we are in the making of its SOPs and guidelines and every effort would be made to revive it and bring it to the level where it was at one point of time. He said, keeping in view the Covid crisis every step has to be taken very cautiously and carefully and that is why he is taking proper inputs from different quarters so that final draft be made and the things which are under his preview be done by him and rest will be put up in the State Advisory Council. Advisor Khan was interacting with various stakeholders during a programme organised by Hotel & Restaurant Association, Katra (HRAK).
Khan said that Katra is the base camp of Tourism of whole J&K state and our priority is clear that keeping in view of importance of Katra Vaishnodevi Ji the concrete plan for channelizing ten million pilgrims and increasing their stay would be made and much emphasis on Katra would be made.

Chief Executive Officer SMVD Shrine Board Ramesh Kumar, Director Tourism Raj Kumar Katoch, Addl. Deputy Commissioner Reasi Rajinder Sharma, Joint Director Tourism Smt. Neelam Khajuria, Superintending Engineer Power, Asstt. Director Tourism Ambika Bali, Cluster Head J&K Bank Rajesh Dubey besides representatives from Hotel Association including its President Rakesh Wazir, Chairman Sham Lal Kesar, Sr. Vice President Virender, General Secretary Kuldeep Dubey, Former President Shiv Kumar Sharma, Sardari Lal Dubey, Karan Wazir, Nishant Sharma, Vikram Salathia, Sanjeev Sharma, Koushal Kumar, Rajan Sharma, Mona Kotwal, Sahil Heera, Ankush Gupta etc, were among the prominent persons attending the programme.
Earlier Rakesh Wazir elaborated the points for revival, survival and sustenance of Tourism in the Union Territory especially in context of 10 million (one crore) pilgrims visiting Vaishnodevi Ji every year which is even more than the population of many countries of the world and the need of the hour is this that we rotate those 10 million pilgrims to other tourist site including Shiv Khori, Nau Devian, Dhansar, Siar Baba near Katra, Patnitop, Bhaderwah besides other tourist spots of the UT.
