Record 4529 deaths, above 2.67 lakh fresh covid-19 cases in India in 24 hours

New Delhi: On Wednesday, India witnessed 4,529 fatalities, the highest single-day spike in deaths since the onset of the pandemic last yearA. With this, the total number of deaths due to corona virus have risen to 2,83,248, the Union Health Ministry has revealed.
The Ministry sources said that India’s daily COVID-19 tally was wel l below the three-lakh mark for the third consecutive day, with 2,67,334 new cases, raising the total number of infections in the country to 2,54,96,330.
On the recovery front, 3,89,851 people recovered from the virus, taking the total number of recoveries to 2,19,86,363.
Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that a total of 32,03,01,177 samples had been tested so far for corona virus. Out of this, 20,08,296 were tested in the last one day, showing an increase in the number of tests.
On Tuesday, India had recorded 2,63,533 new Covid-19 cases and 4,329 deaths.
