Rain likely in Kashmir from Wednesday

Srinagar, The Meteorological Department here forecast isolated very light rain in Kashmir division and scattered to moderate rain in Jammu division during the next 24 hours till Tuesday.

Kashmir Weather, an independent observatory, said though that the conditions will mostly remain dry in the Kashmir region during the next 48 hours till Wednesday, however, a very short shower is possible at one or two places.

It said that people could get some relief from the present hot conditions as there were fair chances of intermittent rainfall on Wednesday-Thursday at most places in the valley that could bring down the maximum temperature.

Hot weather conditions with humid atmosphere and partially cloudy sky continued in Srinagar on Monday.

The maximum temperature here was recorded at 33.7 degrees Celsius which was 4.6 degrees above normal during this period of the season.

The minimum temperature here on Monday was 23.6 degrees Celsius which was 6.5 degrees above normal.

The minimum temperature across the Kashmir valley was also recorded above normal from 5-7 degree Celsius except the Ski resort of Gulmarg where it was 2.9 degree Celsius.

Tourist resort of Pahalgam in south Kashmir recorded a low of 17.6 degrees Celsius which was 6.8 degrees above normal during this period of the season, while Kukernag recorded a low of 19.8 degree Celsius and Gulmarg 13.8 degree Celsius on Monday, the MeT office said.
