Pulse Polio drive conducted in 5488 booths in Jammu

JAMMU: The pulse polio immunization drive was Sunday conducted across all districts of Jammu division at 5488 booths aided with 10247 teams and 21259 health care workers.
In the Jammu Division, 866773 children below 5 year are to be administered 2 drops of polio vaccine during the intensified pulse polio drive.
On the 1st day, 5488 booths were established aided with 10247 teams and 21259 health care workers for the same. Also, 127 transit points have been established with 474 team members to cover children during the travel, 1107 supervisors are observing the drive in the entire Jammu region. On the second and third day Health care workers will also visit House to House to cover any left out children.
AT DODA: Deputy Commissioner Doda Vikas Sharma kick started Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization Programme (IPPI) by inaugurating model polio booth and administering polio drops to beneficiary children at OPD block of Associated Hospital GMC Doda, in presence of Chief Medical Officer Doda Dr. Yaqoob Mir.
To administer oral polio drops to about 70152 beneficiaries, about 523 polio booths were established across Ghat, Bhaderwah, Assar, Gandoh and Thathri medical Blocks, which were manned by 2092 workers from Health, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, Volunteers and employees from Education department.
AT RAJOURI: District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal kick started the three day Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization campaign in the district by administering pulse polio drops to a child here at Gujjar Mandi.
Among the others, CMO, Dr Shamim Un Nissa Bhatti; Dy CMO, Dr Anees Altaf Nabi besides other officers and staff of the Health Department were present during the event.
As per the Chief Medical Officer, Dr Shamim Un Nissa Bhatti as many as 109705 children of the district in the age group of 0-5 years will be administered polio vaccines during the three day campaign.
She added that 639 vaccination booths have been established in different medical blocks of the district with adequate deployment of officials from different departments besides, the services of health workers along with supervisory teams, Anganwadi workers and Asha workers have also been sought for proper execution and monitoring of the immunization process.
AT POONCH: Deputy Commissioner, Poonch, Inder Jeet launched the 3 Day intensified Pulse Polio Programme (IPPI) by administering Polio drops to children below 5 year at Raja Sukhdev Singh District Hospital.
Chief Medical Officer, Dr.G.A Malik, Medical Superintendent, Mushtaq Hussain Shah, District Programme Manager, Nighkat khwaja besides Doctors and Paramedical staff of the Health department were present.
The drive was simultaneously launched in all the subdivisions and 18 hard to reach areas of the district.
The DC informed that Polio Vaccine will be administered to 81836 children at 426 vaccination booths set up in the district. He further informed that 1704 workers and 84 supervisors besides ASHA and Anganwadi workers have been deputed for achieving 100% immunization target in the district.

AT RAMBAN: President Municipal Council Ramban, Suinita Sumbria inaugurated Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization programme (IPPIP) by administering drops to an infant in presence of Chief Medical Officer, Dr Mohammad Fareed Bhat here at District Hospital.
Dy. CMO Dr Iqbal Bhat, District Immunization Officer, Dr, Suresh and other Doctors were also present on the occasion.
The President MC appreciated the health workers for achieving the target by making India a polio free nation. She also appreciated the District Administration for making adequate arrangements for pulse polio drive in the district.
A Huge rush was witnessed throughout the day outside vaccination centers established by the health department across the district.
The CMO informed that 435 Polio vaccination booths were established in the Banihal, Ukhral, Batote/ Ramban and Gool Medical blocks to vaccinate 57067 targeted children in 0-5 year age group.
