President, PM condole demise of MP Governor Lalji Tandon

New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday condoled the death of Madhya Pradesh Governor Lalji Tandon saying that in his death, the country have lost a legendary leader.
Offering condolences to the bereaved family, President Kovind said, “In the passing away of Madhya Pradesh Governor Lal Ji Tandon, we have lost a legendary leader who combined cultural sophistication of Lucknow and acumen of a national stalwart.”
The Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu in his condolence message described the MP Governor as a senior leader and philanthropist with special interest in the folk traditions and history of Lucknow region. Tandon ji was a member of Uttar Pradesh Legislature for a long time. He also performed many responsibilities in the government.
“Tandon was a representative of the civilised dignities of polity politics,” he added and prayed to God to bless the departed soul.
Expressing anguish at the passing away, Modi in his condolence message, said “Lalji Tandon will be remembered for his untiring efforts to serve society. He played a key role in strengthening the BJP in Uttar Pradesh. He made a mark as an effective administrator, always giving importance of public welfare”
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath too expressed his grief over the demise of Madhya Pradesh governor Lalji Tandon and announced a three days state mourning as a mark of respect to the departed dignitary.
He died at Medanta Hospital in Lucknow on Tuesday morning after a prolonged illness. He was 85.
His last rites will be performed in Lucknow at 1630 hours, his son UP Urban Development Minister Ashutosh Tandon said.
