Politics of opportunism and deception could seriously harm Jammu: Harsh

JKNPP Chairman addressing media persons at Jammu

JAMMU: Chairman of JKNPP and former minister Harsh Dev Singh today said that politics of opportunism and deception practised by the present leaders could do unimaginable harm to Jammu.
While addressing a press comference, he said, “Jammu has been reeling under acute stress in view of its continued neglect and deprivation even after J&K’s reorganization and abrogation of Article 370”
All assurances of empowering Jammu and undoing all discrimination have proved wrong due to which the people’s anger against the BJP regime has been growing with each passing day.
While the unemployed and underemployed youth were already on roads, the general masses were feeling greatly concerned over the stalled development, soaring corruption and most menacing threat of rising prices, he said.
With 4G internet continuing to remain elusive and Jammu flooded with Toll Plazas, the people in general were feeling let down by their own leaders, he said.
“Under such circumstances it was NPP leadership alone which was projecting the issues of the common man and fighting the anti-Jammu decisions at the risk of their own security,” he said.

On the occasion, Prof. Jai Kumar Sharma, a renowned educationist/economist joined NPP along with several other Rtd. bureaucrats and intellectuals.
Pertinent to mention that Jai Kumar Sharma had served as Director Colleges, Additional Controller of Examinations and Special Secretary to Vice Chancellor JU before his retirement. Others who joined NPP today included Kulbhushan Singh Sambyal, Retd Joint Director Agriculture, Prof. GP Singh, specialist in Hospitality& Tourism and Choudhary Gurdeep Singh, a prominent businessman of Jammu.

Appealing the intelligentsia and saner elements in the society to come forward to save Jammu, Singh said that politics of opportunism and deception practised by the present leaders could do unimaginable harm to Jammu.
How could people accept those opportunists as leaders who sacrificed the very dignity and honour of Dogras for power, who bartered away the aspirations of the people of Jammu for power and abandoned their age old slogans of justice and equality for Jammu, he said.
“Those who facilitated the release of thousands of stone-pelters of valley, framed policy for jobs to deceased stone-pelters, formulated schemes for rehabilitation of surrendered militants, lodged FIRs against army personnel, imposed Kashmir language in Jammu colleges, allowed raising of Pro Pak slogans in legislative Assembly, refused holiday on birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh, refused CBI probe in Rasana case, imposed service tax on Hindu pilgrimage Helicopter services, and described killings of terrorist like Burhan Wani as accidental, refused composite Townships for KPs and Sainik Colonies for Ex-servicemen in Kashmir only to keep separatists in good humour,” said.

He appealed to academicians, rtd officers, employees, students, traders and youth of Jammu to join hands to get rid of the politics of treachery and subterfuge being practised by the BJP leadership.
Surinder Chouhan, District President Jammu (Rural) was also present on the occasion.
