PCI team visits Baramulla, interacts with media fraternity

Srinagar: A three member sub-committee of the Press Council of India (PCI), which is on a four-day visit to Kashmir, on Sunday visited Baramulla and interacted with media fraternity.

An official spokesperson said that the PCI team is headed by Balwinder Singh Jammu while Kamal Nain Narang and Syed Raza Hussain Rizvi are the other two members.

“The team held detailed interactions with media persons representing various local and national newspapers, photojournalists, video journalists and news agencies who brought to their notice the difficulties faced by them in the discharge of their professional duties,” he said.

Earlier, he said District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Dr G N Itoo briefed the sub-committee about developmental scenario and various government schemes being implemented in the district. He said that Baramulla has performed exceedingly well in the execution of many centrally sponsored schemes and programmes.

Joint Director Information Kashmir Division, Haris Ahmad Handoo and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
