Opposition creates pandemonium in RS regarding suspension of TMC MPs

New Delhi: The Rajya Sabha was adjourned back to back twice on Thursday, due to the ruckus created by the opposition parties.
As soon as the house met, Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh spoke of Wednesday’s incident in which an All india Trinamool Congress (AITC) MP tried to enter the House despite being suspended for the day. Six AITC members had been suspended for causing uproar in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.
Remarking that the incident was an unfortunate one, The deputy chairman said that the AITC MP concerned broke the glass of one of the doors. A flying glass piece hit a lady security officer , who has made a complaint on the matter, the Deputy Chaiman said.
Terming the incident as highly deplorable, the deputy chaiman said theconduct of the member was unbecoming of a Rajya Sabha MP.
At this, senior AITC member Sukhendu Sekhar Roy asked how the members concerned remained suspended on Thursday for Wednesday’s incident.
“What is going on..what is going on…what is going on,” he screamed in anger.
Following this, Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge remarked that the protest that happened in the House yesterday “is not new”.
He also quoted late BJP leader in the House Arun Jaitley who had said, “disruption is a part of democracy.”
Pandemonium continued in the House with the Opposition demanding a discussion on the Pegasus spyware issue.
