One dead, four injured as Van rolls down

FARID AHMED                                                                                                      DODA: Just a day after the tragic mini bus accident on Kahara-Thathri road in which seven persons lost their lives, another accident on a rural road in the outskirts of Doda town yesterday evening left one dead and three grievously injured.
The accident occurred when a Maruti 800 Van was on its way to Bijarni village from Forewan carrying five men including its driver. The driver of the van lost control of the steering wheel while negotiating a curve and the vehicle fell into a 200 meter gorge down the hill slope. On getting information locals, police personnel and NGO volunteers started rescue operation . All the five occupants of the vehicle were shifted to district hospital Doda.
Doctors attending on the victims of the accidents suggested shifting of four critically injured to GMC Jammu for advanced treatment. As per details provided by DH Doda Farooq Ahmed 37, Salah-ud-Din 28, Babar 17 and Ravi Shastri were shifted to GMC Jammu in an ambulance while Yasir Hussain 35 who had minor injuries was formally admitted in DH Doda.
One of the seriously injured, Ravi Shastri breathed his last near Udhampur late evening, while other three persons are struggling for life at GMC Jammu according to reports reaching here.
