Vinod Chandrashekhar Dixit
June 4th is observed as International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression. It was established on 19 August 1982.Day by day, violence against children in varied conflict zones has been rising; nearing to 250 million children living in nations affected by the conflict is vulnerable. The United Nation recognizes, that there exist more need to done, so that rights of the children protected and at the same time, suffering Is also highlighted. There are numerous harms to the children in conflict; it includes sexual violence, death, addiction, and denial of humanitarian access, abduction, attacks on both schools and hospitals. The day is commemorated to acknowledge acknowledge the pain suffered by minors caught up in conflict. Some common violations of child rights in conflict zones are military recruitment, abductions, killing, and sexual abuse. The main aim of celebrating today is to spread the notice about the pain and sufferings faced by the victims as children.Every five minutes a child dies from violence. Every day, in every country, children are abused, beaten, raped and more.
Our society is full of evil-minded people, at one place, where there are saints and positive people who love to spread the word of love and brotherhood. Others think only about their individual benefits. These are self-centered people. One obnoxious act that money-minded beasts do is to involve little children in employment activities. They make such children do laborious tasks in the mining, cracker, or construction works. These people take away the very childhood from the lives of these children. Many people also forcibly make children indulge in sexual, begging, or house help activities. They snatch away the ingenuity and innocence from the life of children and dominate their everyday lives.
Behind observing this above day, is to acknowledge the pain suffered by the children across the world, which is caused due to any kind of abuse, which include mental, physical and emotional.Children are among the most vulnerable groups in societies /regions where armed conflicts erupt. In such societies/regions, they face numerous protection risks. Some common violations include recruitment of minors for fight, abduction, killing, attacks on schools, sexual abuse, sex trafficking and denial of access to humanitarian aid, among other egregious child rights violations. Abduction, forced marriage and rape have become routine tactics in conflict zones from the Democratic Republic of the Congo to Nigeria, from Syria to Yemen, and Myanmar.
Children are the architects of a better, sustainable tomorrow. Ignoring the presence of a wide array of human rights protection institutions, parties in conflict act with near-total impunity to commit grave atrocities against minors. Exposure to physical, emotional and mental violence can have dramatic and life-long negative impact on them.Every child whether a boy or girl irrespective of age is unique and has value importance as a person with a right for their human dignity to be respected. It has a right to have a say in all decisions and matters that concern him or her, to be listened to and his or her opinion taken seriously.
Children are not only the hope for the future but also instrumental for maintaining our present happy status. These young minds are the source of betterment and newness in the world today and the time to come. In the words of Mahatma Gandhi: “If we are to teach real peace in this world, and if we are to carry on a real war against war, we shall have to begin with the children”.
