New York records its deadliest 24 hours with 731 new coronavirus deaths

Washington: New York state on Tuesday recorded 731 new coronavirus deaths, marking the biggest one-day jump in the outbreak.
The state’s death toll now stands at 5,489, according to Gov Andrew Cuomo.
More people have now died from the coronavirus in New York City than the number who perished in the September 11 attack on the World Trade Center, once again making New York ground zero in a national tragedy, according to WBOC.
The virus has killed some 3,202 people in the city, even as the national death toll touched 11,000 on Tuesday.
