NEP-2020: Implementation process set in motion in J&K; Two Task Forces constituted

JAMMU: With the constitution of two Task Forces, the process for implementation of National Education Policy (NEP)-2020, has set in motion in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
To discuss the road map for implementation of NEP -2020, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir would be organizing two conferences at the capital cities of Jammu and Srinagar of Academicians and others involved in education sector. These conferences would be held on September 20 and 21 at Srinagar and Jammu respectively through Video Conferencing in which the President of India would be addressing virtually. Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, K K Sharma has also chaired a meeting to review preparations being done for organizing of two conferences for implementation of NEP- 2020

The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has today ordered for constitution of Task Forces for implementation of NEP-2020. While one Task Force has been constituted for identifying the specific measures and initiatives required to be taken in respect of implementing the Policy in Higher Education, the another one has to look into the initiatives required for implementing the Policy on School Education and Skill Development.
“Sanction is hereby accorded to the constitution of two Task Forces, for identifying the specific measures and initiatives required to be taken in respect of implementing the National Education Policy, 2020,” a Government Order issued today, reads.
These Task Forces shall examine the provisions of NEP-2020 and identify specific measures to be taken for implementing these in Jammu and Kashmir; assess the academic and training requirements for its implementation; suggest structural reforms that may be needed for its implementation; assess manpower and financial requirements for its implementation; and suggest procedural and policy changes that need to be made in achieving the objectives of NEP 2020, official sources said.
NEP 2020 Task Force on Higher Education is headed by Advisor to Lt Governor, K K Sharma as its Chairman. While Vice Chancellors of all Universities of J&K both Central and UT; Deans/Directors of other Central Institutes of Jammu and Kashmir such as IIT, IIM, NIT; Commissioner/Secretary to Government, Higher Education Department; three Principals each from Jammu province and Kashmir province to be nominated by the Government; six Academicians to be nominated by the Government and Director RUSA have been nominated as Members, Director Colleges J&K will be Member Secretary of the Task Force.
The Task Force shall be serviced by the Higher Education Department.
Moreover, the NEP 2020 Task Force on School Education and Skill Development, is headed by Principal Secretary to the Government, School Education Department as its chairman. Director School Education, Kashmir/Jammu; Director Skill Development, J&K; Director SCERT (Chairperson BOSE); Project Director, Samagra Shiksha; four Academicians to be nominated by the Government and four Principals from the Government/Private Schools to be nominated by the Government will be members of the said Task Force.
The Task Force shall be serviced by the School Education Department and Director, School Education, Jammu shall be the Member Secretary.

Vice Chancellors of Jammu, Kashmir Universities Dr Manoj Dhar, Prof Talat Ahmad; Principal Secretary School Education Dr Asgar Samoon; Commissioner Secretary Higher Education, Talat Parvez ; Chairperson JKBOSE, Prof Veena Pandita; Directors Education Jammu, Kashmir, Anuradha Gupta ; Younis Malik, Director Skill Development Parvez Sajad Ganai; Director Samagra Siksha , Arun Manhas and Principal Government Women College, Yasmina Shahi attended the meeting which was done through Video Conferencing.
The meeting was held in relation to the initiative that the Government of Jammu and Kashmir would be organizing two conferences at the capital cities of Jammu and Srinagar of Academicians and others involved in education sector to discuss the road map for implementation of NEP -2020.
The meeting discussed the process of organizing the conferences including the finalization of themes, the schedule and other related matters for holding it successfully.
