Nadda offers prayers at Meenakshi temple

Madurai: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Jagat Prakash Nadda had a darshan at the World-renowned Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple here on Saturday.
Nadda, who arrived at the main entrance of the temple, this morning, was accorded the traditional “Poorna Kumbam” honours by the priests and officials of Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment department.
He was accompanied by his wife Mallika Nadda.
Nadda paid obeisance to goddess Meenakshi and lord Sundareswarar, besides at all the sub shrines inside the temple. Special pujas were performed to the deities in view of his visit.
The temple officials, while taking him around the “praharams” (corridors), explained the history of the temple.
He was impressed by the architectural marvel and uniqueness of the temple and spent about one hour inside the temple complex, sources in the temple said.
BJP National General Secretary in-charge of Tamil Nadu C.T.Ravi, BJP state president L.Murugan, party’s Mahila Morcha President Vanathi Srinivasan, former Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan are among the senior party leaders who accompanied Mr.Nadda.
Police made tight security arrangements in and around the temple in view of Mr.Nadda’s visit.
The BJP Chief, who arrived here last night, will be holding organizational meetings and will review poll preparedness for the ensuing assembly election in Tamil Nadu with the party leaders and functionaries. He will also address a public meeting this evening, before leaving to Puducherry.
