Badla opens up with a dead man Arjun (Tony Luke) and his lover Naina (Taapsee Pannu), a famous businessman. She is the prime suspect with all evidence stacked against her. With no one believing her and backing her up, lawyer Badal Gupta (Amitabh Bachchan), comes to her rescue. He is the unconquerable and never lost a case. He steps in to unlace the details of the murder and get Naina out of the mess. The film then describes all the hooks and corners of the flashback that eventually leads up to the chilling finale.
Badla’s astound the audience, throwing them all the clues and keeping them engaged and engrossed and overwhelmed with fluctuating stories and character motivations. Sujoy Ghosh direction rightly evoke the suspense keeping you hooked in the gripping thriller.
The supporting cast Manav Kaul, and the very talented Amrita Singh play small but substantial roles.
