Modi, Hasina stress effective border management

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina on Saturday emphasised the importance of effective border management to ensure a tranquil, stable and crime-free frontier.
A Joint statement issued at the end of bilateral talks here said that the two leaders directed their respective border forces to complete fencing at all pending sectors at the international frontier between both the nations at the earliest.
Mr Modi and the visiting dignitary agreed to enhance cooperation in the area of Disaster Management. They called for early completion of an MoU in the area of disaster management cooperation in a time-bound manner.
India extended Bangladesh its warm felicitations for imminent graduation out of Least Developed Countries category.
“In this context, both the sides agreed to expedite commissioning of the Joint Study on the prospects of entering into a bilateral Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between India and Bangladesh.’
