Congress to protest against price hike from June 29 onwards
JAMMU: Central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has earned around Rs 18 lakh crores from petrol and diesel during six years by imposing unreasonable excise duty and taxes, which is most unfortunate.
This was stated by PCC Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma while addressing a gathering at Party headquarter here.
Sharma lashed out at the BJP government at the Centre for crushing the common man under unprecedented hike if all items. Modi govt is continuously burdening the common people with multiple taxes amidst large scale economic distress and it is totally insensitive to the plight of poor and common man. The prices of crude oil in the international market are the lowest at present but the prices of petrol and diesel are at its peak, as such Congress has chalked out agitational programme from Monday onwards.
Congress would hold series of protest from June 29 onwards upto July 4, at all District headquarters in Jammu and Kashmir over unprecedented price hike of petrol diesel and all other commodities during the Modi regime, which has broken the backbone of poor and common man, he informed.
Sharma alongwith General Secretary PCC Incharge District Congress Jammu Yogesh Sawhney and Vice Chairman of party’s Minority wing Gurdarshan Singh, welcomed new entrants into the party fold after quitting their affiliation to BJP.
The function was organized by the PCC Minority Wing District Jammu under the presidentship of Jagjit Singh. He introduced the new entrants, who were welcomed into the party by senior leaders on the occasion.
Former Minister Yogesh Sawhney termed the entry of several young people into the party a sign of the disillusionment of the common people especially youth with the ruling BJP and said that Congress would represent the voice of Jammu youth in all spheres and protect their interests and respect their emotions.
He asked the people to see through the failures of the BJP on all fronts and their arrogance of power. The people of Jammu are fed up with the BJP, who have hurt sentiments and the economic interests of the people of Jammu treating them as their vote bank. This has caused great resentment amongst people against the party who would teach lesson. He said a protest shall be held on 29th June in Jammu and other parts over price hike..
