Man critically injured in bear attack in Ganderbal

Srinagar: A villager was critically injured when a wild bear attacked him in the central Kashmir district of Ganderbal on Monday, official sources said.
They said panic gripped in village Cherwan, Kangan, in Ganderbal when a wild bear entered from the nearby forest this morning. However, before the residents could do anything wild bear attacked and seriously injured Abdul Rashid, a resident of Thune Kangan. The bear later escaped back into the forest, they said.
The injured was immediately rushed hospital from where he was referred to Srinagar in a critical condition.
The incidents of man-wild conflict have witnessed an increase during this summer, people said and alleged that the wildlife department has failed to prevent the wild animals from entering villages.
