LEH: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, RK Mathur, chaired the 4th Ladakh Development Conclave to discuss National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Ladakh Smart City Project, Jal Jeevan Mission and Industrial Land Allotment Policy, in Leh today. Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Advocate Tashi Gyalson; Chairman, LAHDC Kargil, Feroz Ahmed Khan and Member of Parliament, Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, attended the Conclave.
LG Mathur appreciated the efforts of both the Hill Councils and all the government officials in making the Conclave successful. He stressed on the need to focus on all schools, including government, private and also schools operated by the Centre and Army, while discussing the National Educational Policy-2020. He emphasised on the need for a holistic approach while developing residential schools in Ladakh.
LG Mathur stated that the rationalisation of schools should be done in a time-bound manner. Terming primary schools as fundamental, he stated that rationalisation of primary schools must be done in a careful manner.
LG Mathur also handed over student kits procured under the Changthang package to Hill Council, Leh to be distributed to students in Changthang area. He launched the e-Seva portal (http://eseva.ladakh.gov.in) with 14 e-services of various government departments for the convenience of the public. He also launched the Jal Jeevan Mission Grievances Redressal Portal (http://jaljeevanladakh.in/).
Earlier, Director, Department of School Education, Ladakh (DSEL), Dr Safdar Ali, gave a presentation on the number of govt schools, enrolment of students, achievements of the Department and the targets for 2022-23. Deputy Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Tsering Angchuk, gave a presentation on the rationalisation of schools, implementation of NEP-2020 and 100% enrolment and zero dropouts in schools.
Chairman, LAHDC Kargil, Feroz Ahmad Khan, gave a presentation on initiatives taken by them for the implementation of NEP-2020 in Kargil. Commissioner/Secretary, Information Technology, Saugat Biswas, gave a presentation on coverage of towers/internet connectivity/VSATs in remote areas of Ladakh and the introduction of community radio in Leh and Kargil for the benefit of students.
Rahul from the Department of Housing & Urban Development Department gave a presentation on Roadmap of Smart Cities in Ladakh. Commissioner/Secretary, PHE Department, Ajeet Kumar Sahu, gave a presentation on the status of implementation of JJM works in Ladakh. Director, Industries and Commerce, Moses Kunzang, gave a presentation on Land Allotment Policy in Ladakh. Secretary, Youth Services and Sports, Ravinder Kumar, also spoke on the development of sports infrastructure.
Chairman of both the Hill Councils and Member of Parliament from Ladakh gave their suggestions for the overall improvement of the schemes. Commissioner/Secretary Ajeet Kumar Sahu welcomed the guests whereas Director DSEL Safdar Ali gave the vote of thanks.
