LET’S SHOULDER RESPONSIBILITY

It is really an irony that despite the secular ethos of India having shown the path of non-violence and peace to the whole world, a section of the people across the globe has got derailed and have denigrated religious sanctity by resorting to violence in the name of religion. Today, humanity is passing through a critical phase with terrorism being the greatest threat and it is really unfortunate that there are unabated attempts by certain sections to link terrorism to religion to protect their vested interests at the cost of humanity. In order to further their personal agenda, such elements are bent upon creating communal divides, especially on the basis of religion, thus spreading hatred to keep the pot boiling. It is quite surprising that despite being at the receiving end, the common people get very easily befooled by the so-called leaders, not at all realizing the game plan behind such hatred that ultimately leads to violence and bloodshed. The merchants of death and destruction will continue to succeed in their ulterior plans till the common people understand the ground realities. The height of the things is that even the religious heads have been coerced by such elements so that there remains no scope for correct interpretation of religion. As of today, it is for the people to realize the gravity of the miseries that have befallen on them due to their own follies. This most aptly applies to the people of the world’s largest democracy, especially Jammu and Kashmir, which is still passing through turbulent times. People today need to understand that every religion preaches peace, tolerance and brotherhood. Each religion has made great contributions for the people of this state, the nation and the whole world at large. While we find derailed minds in communities following different faiths and religions, these elements can be brought back easily to the peaceful mainstream, provided they are made aware about the essence and realities about their religions. It is the duty of the religious heads and preachers, as well as the politicians of different communities, especially in the Valley which had reached a stage as good as ‘Paradise Lost’, to come out of the clutches of the denigrated elements in the society who are goading them on to suit their agenda, thus keeping them under the sporadic cover of terrorism. Despite having been a timeless fountain of peace and an ancient source of traditions and faiths besides its communal harmony being time-tested, even India is facing a grave threat on account of religious hatred and intolerance. How the people are being befooled by politicians is an open secret now and it is a testing time for the people to rise to the occasion. The sane elements of all religions need to shoulder the responsibility in this regard by adopting proactive strategies so that none indulges in any sort of hatred and intolerance especially in terms of religion, thus restoring the pristine glory of the composite culture which was the hallmark of Jammu and Kashmir.
