Khalsa Club wins Senior Hockey title

Winning Khalsa Club receives title trophy from chief guest at K K Hakhu Stadium in Jammu on Sunday.

JAMMU: Khalsa Club Gole Gujral clinched the Jammu Senior Men’s Hockey title outplaying Poonch XI 7-4 in the final played at K K Hakhu Stadium, here under the banner of Hockey Jammu and Kashmir.
Manpreet Singh played a key role in big win for Khalsa contributing three goals striking in the 17th, 39th and 47th minutes. Gaganpreet Singh also did a fine job adding two goals in the 12th and 48th minute of the match.
Sikander Pal Singh (32nd) and Tanishpreet Singh (9th) were other scorers. From Poonch XI, Shobit Tandon scored three goals for his team striking in the 3rd, 49th and 56th minute. Matinder Pal Singh was other scorer, who sounded the board in the 34th minute.
The fare play trophy jointly shared by Young Khalsa and Bandhu Rakh Club.
Secretary general Hockey India, Rajinder Singh Kuku was chief guest in the final, who gave away the title trophy and other individual prizes. Manager K K Hakhu Stadium, Ashok Singh was guest of honour.
Among others present were Dr Taran Singh (general secretary Hockey J&K), G S Bakshi (ex-general secretary), Jaswant Singh (senior vice president Hockey J&K), Manmohan Pal Singh, Ishant Sharma, R P Singh and Harmanan Singh.
In all, 12 teams took part in this competition from three districts of Jammu, Poonch and Kathua.
The final officiated by the technical penal including Rohit Sharma, Angat Singh and Joginder Singh.
