Kathua Admn cancels gun licence of man for killing ‘peacock’

Jammu: The District Kathua Administration on Monday ordered cancellation of a gun licence of a man for killing the ‘peacock’.
As per order issued by the District Magistrate Kathua, O P Bhagat, Gun Licence issued in favour of Noorani, son of Lal Din of Kadowa, Tehsll Mahanpur, presently staying at Koti-Kishanpur, Billawar, district Kathua has been cancelled with immediate effect.
The District Magistrate said that the licence issued has been cancelled after the licensee killed one National Bird (Peacock) with his rifle (12 Bore) by the licensed gun following which a case under relevant sections was registered against him and action initiated.
SSP Kathua S K Mishra however, has recommended for cancellation of Gun Licence and therefore, to prevent any breach of peace in the area and to prevent misuse of licenced weapon, the Gun Licence (bearing No. 3139/DMK) issued in his favour issued by the District Magistrate, Kathua is cancelled with immediate effect.
