J&K police denies reports on social media about encounter in Tral

Srinagar: A spokesman of Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday refuted reports on social media about encounter between militants and security forces in Tral in south Kashmir district of Pulwama.
He said the reports on social media this morning that encounter and violence was going on in Tral were totally incorrect and false.
He said there is no such encounter or violence in Tral and appealed to people not to heed to rumours on social media.
Spokesman warned of stern action against all those who will be found involved in spreading rumours on social media. All social media sites remained banned and authorities have identified 300 whitelisted website which could be assessed only.
High speed mobile internet and broadband remained suspended as a precautionary measure in the valley since August 5, when centre abrogated special status of the erstwhile state.
However, people are assessing social media sites through VPN after authorities resumed 2G mobile internet in the valley on January 25.
Police has already initiated action against some persons who were spreading rumours on social media in the valley.
