JAMMU: All the elected District Football Associations (DFAs) of Jammu Province alongwith 48 Football Clubs and senior Football Association members have unanimously decided to boycott the proposed elections of Executive Committee of J&K Football Association (JKFA) on 12th June 2022 at Srinagar.
These members of Jammu province made serious allegations of discrimination and regional bias with Jammu region by the office bearers and handlers of JKFA from Kashmir and blamed them for present nepotism in the working of the Association.
Led by senior member and former Treasurer JKFA Surinder Singh Bunty these office bearers and senior members announced to boycott the proposed elections on 12th June at Srinagar in protest against the ongoing bungling in the voter list, nepotism and manipulation in the working of the present body of the Association.
While addressing the Press Conference Surinder Singh Bunty blamed office bearers of JKFA from Kashmir playing regional bias against Jammu and deliberately spoiling the game of Football in Jammu region.
He said there is deliberate attempt by these vested interests to damage the Football in Jammu in every manner be it allocation of funds, selection of players for the national and Zonal events or the infrastructure development and now the preparation of voters lists of various District bodies. He said that despite various attempts made from time to time to provide equal opportunities to the players of both regions these elements have always sabotaged the cause of Jammu region and have literally made Football Association a ‘Private Limited Company’ of few handlers using it as a platform for their own business benefits.
He said that for the last 3 years there has been no activity in the name of Football in Jammu region as not a single penny has been allocated to any District of Jammu province since 2018-19 whereas lot of tournaments have been organized in Kashmir Valley despite Covid 19 restrictions.
Serious allegations of nepotism and favoritism were also leveled against Kashmir based office bearers of JKFA in the selection process of players in prestigious tournaments like Santosh Trophy and other junior and sub junior tournaments at local and National tournaments where majority of the players are selected from Kashmir and talented players from Jammu are deliberately ignored by the officials and selectors from Kashmir.
They said the recent incidents of talented players of Jammu were deliberately ignored in the team sent for Santosh Trophy in 2019 due to which the entire team of DFA Jammu was forced to resign after the strong resentment from Jammu region.
The members of JKFA Jammu expressed their serious concern over the deletion of 11 oldest Football Clubs and inclusion of 7 fake clubs in the voter list of DFA Jammu by the unauthorized persons violating the norms of the constitution of JKFA.
All these members of JKFA has appealed the Lieutenant Governor of the UT to personally intervene in the matter and postpone the proposed elections.
