ITBP Chief awards DG Commendation Rolls & Discs to brave troopers in Eastern Ladakh

New Delhi: Director General of ITBP SS Deswal has awarded DG Commendation Rolls and Disk to the brave jawans of the Force, for their gallant actions during the face offs and border skirmishes in the border areas that took place in May and June, 2020 in Eastern Ladakh, an official statement said here on Friday.
During his recent visit to the ITBP Border Out Posts (BOPs) of Eastern Ladakh, Mr Deswal met the brave jawans deployed in the area and awarded 291 ITBP jawans, including three DIGs.
The efforts of the field commanders and the jawans were highly appreciated by ITBP DG. The ITBP had announced the award for these jawans, on the eve of Independence Day, 2020.
The DG of the Himalayan Border Guarding force went to meet the ITBP personnel deployed to safeguard the borders and reached out to most of the high altitude BOPs via land route; at some places by crossing 17,500 ft.
The visit was primarily by road involving 10-12 hours travels every day for about six days and spent all six nights at various BOPs.
During his visit to forward locations, Mr Deswal interacted and discussed with Field Commanders of ITBP and Army on various issues related to border safety.
He praised ITBP troops for their bravery which they exhibited at the time of need despite many terrains, weather and other difficult conditions and standing shoulder to shoulder with the Indian Army.
During this visit, the DG interacted with jawans deployed at BOPs and appreciated the duties being carried out by them in the present security scenario. He also emphasized to maintain endurance and professional skills of the troops by rigorous training.
Mr Deswal was accompanied by Daljit Singh Chawdhary, IG (HQ), Manoj Singh Rawat, IG (Operations) and Deepam Seth, IG, NW Frontier during the visit.
