India logs 16156 Covid-19 cases, 733 deaths in 24 hours

New Delhi: India has logged 16156 new Covid-19 cases and 733 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the update given by the Union Health Ministry on Thursday.
With this, the active caseload has fallen the 2-lakh mark at 1,60,989, the lowest in the last 243 days and the death toll risen to 45,63,86.
The recovery rate has touched 98.20 per cent as 17,095 patients recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative tally to 3,36,14,434. The active cases presently constitute 0.47 per cent of the country’s total positive cases since March 2020.
“The daily positivity rate is 1.25 per cent, which is less than 2 per cent for last 24 days, whereas weekly positivity rate is 1.19 per cent which also remains less than 2 per cent for the last 34 days now,” the Ministry reported.
Meanwhile, the testing capacity across the country continues to be expanded. India has so far conducted over 60.44 crore tests across the country.
In past 24 hours, India administered over 44 lakh vaccine doses as the coverage exceeded 103.99 crore as per provisional reports till 7 am Thursday, the Ministry said.
According to the data, more than 108 crore vaccine doses have been provided to states/UTs so far through the direct state procurement category.
