 1902-Swami Vivekananda was an Indian Hindu
monk, a chief disciple of the 19th-century Indian
mystic Ramakrishna.
 1955-Palwankar Baloo was the first Dalit to be a
cricketer and a politician.
 1963-Pingali Venkayya was an Indian freedom fighter
and the designer of the flag on which the Indian
national flag was based.
 1947- Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga Rao was an Indian
National Congress politician in Vijayawada, Andhra
Pradesh.
 2006–Sri Lanka sets a new ODI cricket record score
443-9 in a World Cup win over the Netherlands in
Amstelveen (Jayasuriya 157, Dilshan 117).
 1776 – Representatives of 13 states of America signed
the Declaration of Independence of this country in the
city of Philadelphia on this day. That is why this day
is known as America’s Independence.
