Govt failed to take up developmental activities in Udhampur district: Manjit Singh

UDHAMPUR: Apni Party alleged that the Govt has failed to take up developmental activities in Udhampur district which still remained under-developed, poor health and electricity supply in rural areas.
Addressing a Party function here today, Apni Party Provincial president and Ex-Minister Manjit Singh said that it was unfortunate to know about the underdevelopment, poor road connectivity, electricity, and water supply system in the district.
“Udhampur does not end in the town. The surrounding mountains of the districts have a majority of population who have allegedly been deprived of developmental projects,” said Manjit Singh.
He was addressing the programme organised by Ex-MLA Chenani Faqir Nath at Rakh Badali Panchayat in Udhampur in which the Party leaders and workers highlighted problems being faced by the Schedule Caste (SC) and Other Backward Class (OBC) communities in the district and many people on this occasion including Panchayati members.
Speaking on the occasion, Manjit Singh said the SC and OBC allegedly facing negligence with regard to development in their areas and villages of the district. “The B2V3 programmes have remained unsuccessful to win the confidence of the people because the many works taken up in the last two back to village programmes have also not been completed,” he said adding that Udhampur district needs massive developmental plans for the villages to be taken up in a strategic manner for the poor masses living in remote areas.
“These officials have no connection with the people. Gadseri Talab is on a hilltop in one of the villages in Ramnagar near village Farole. Chontra Mata Temple, Dalsar lake, Khadi Janni, Basantgarh, Chenani, and other places across the district. However, it is a glaring example of official negligence. This place should be developed on a tourism map and the officials should visit to see how the water body which can be preserved is eroding due to negligence,” said Manjit Singh.
He said that the doctor’s area available in District Hospital, Sub District Hospitals of the Udhampur district and in Primary Health Centres yet rural areas require better health care systems.
“The Udhampur district is lagging behind in every aspect and the attention of Govt is required for the upliftment of the neglected people. The people were befooled by the previous Govts,” he said, adding expressed his concern that since independence, it is unfortunate to see the condition of the district which is good on papers but ground realities are different.
Speaking on the occasion, Ex-MLA Chenani Faqir Nath said that SC and OBC areas being allegedly neglected with respect to development in Udhampur. He said that the developments have taken backstage in the district.
